I'm not a dog person, part II

Despite my continued assertions that "I'm not a dog person," I am now the proud owner of Doxie. Don't get me wrong - I like dogs. I like all things cute and furry. I just like other people's dogs. They're a lot of work - and needier than my kids (which is saying a lot!) Besides, I'm allergic.

But when our friends who foster rescue dogs brough Doxie over to visit, we loved her. So - we adopted her and she's ours. I think she's a border collie/australian shepherd mix. She's smart and energetic, but well-behaved for the most part. She's also incredibly difficult to photograph because she moves all the time. Ben's finishing the fence as I type, so that we have a way to keep her in the yard while we're at work.

The kids love her too.

Here, the black-and-white dog meets the black-and-white cat. Just in case you're wondering, they're not friends.

It may take a while but I wouldnt doubt that your cat and dog will get a long. It took a couple weeks for our ex-pets to be friends, but when they did they would even sleep together. Looks like your girls love her. =)

Love the pup! So adorable. Yes, they are lots of work, but worth it. :)

Oh man I hope you adjust well, she is so dang cute! We love dogs, but they are a lot of work and since we are about to have baby #3 in a less than 1000 sq feet apartment, now is not the time for us to have a dog. I told Ryan that the minute we buy our own house we will also get a dog or two, and we can't wait!

Awww she's cute! I've always wanted a dog but I'm afraid of all that work. That's great you're getting your fence done. Now you won't have neighbors' dogs pooping in your yard, just your own. :)

You're so nice to take another dog. I am not a dog person either....and the one I have now is SO mellow, but it's still an adjustment for me. :o) I loved how you said that you "love dogs at other people's houses". That is ME, to a tee. hee hee BTW, I really screwed up my knee. I haven't been able to do anything since Friday. I am so pissed off. I have an appt with a surgeon tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed for me.... I finally found something I liked, and this happens. Just my luck.... Maybe I'm just meant to be fat....????? I'm so frustrated. Sorry for rambling on and on....but I thought you'd feel sorry for me. :o(

She is so cute! And what a cool mix, both of those breeds are wonderful, although VERY energetic! Have you taken her running? I bet she'd be a great marathon buddy! :D

I am the exact same way about dogs as you are. I love them when someone else has to walk them and clean up their poo (cats are just so much easier!). My parents have three dogs (one of them is my brother's dog that is living there...long story) and whenever we leave, I always think, "There's no way I'll ever get a dog." But who knows what I may get talked into someday...

Yay for dogs! Although most days I want to kill Max. But they are good playmates for the kids.
