Stranger danger

I decided the other day, that the girls needed a lesson in what to do if they were ever approached by a stranger. They were sitting at the bar coloring while I made lunch, and I decided to quiz them on what to do. Since she was older, G was up first. Our conversation went like this:

Mommy: So G, what do you say if a stranger comes up and offers you candy?
G: I say no! Then I run away and tell a grown-up that I trust.

Clearly, she's had this lesson before.

Next up was Bryn. Our conversation went like this:

Mommy: So Bryn, what do you say if a stranger comes up and offers you candy?
Bryn: I say yummy candy! Thanks! (with a giant grin on her face. I think she was expecting real candy)

Obviously, we need to work on her.

Yeah that is fairly realistic for her age. I have to work with Kaitlyn a bunch on that stuff, but I think she gets it. Ethan on the other hand... well I will have to figure out how to teach him about that.

At least she would have been polite enough to thank the dirty old man for the candy.

Ha ha. I've tried this with Syd and I think I overdid it. She's now afraid of everyone! I think we'll work on who to trust next.

That's what really scares me about Daphne. she loves people, especially men, and she would go with any old stranger for any reason on earth. That's why it freaks me out to realize how important my role of protector is. Literally, life and death.

Landon loves people too. He has always been an anti-mommy kid so he would always go to anyone. That really freaks me out. I wish I could get him to understand too!

That's hilarious. My kid would probably take candy, even if Jason from Friday the 13th was giving it out. He is a candy fiend and I don't know if I will ever be able to teach him about Stranger Danger. wuah wuah!
