Splash(y) pad(die)

My girls love the splash pad (or splashy paddie as Bryn says). As far as I know, splash pads are "all the rage" these days, but are a fairly new concept. For those of you who have never had the privilege of visiting one, let me try to explain: its a water park for little kids. There are lots of fountains and spray features for the kids to run through (like sprinklers on steroids), but no standing water for the kids to drown in. And the floor material is nice and squishy, so if they fall they don't get hurt. The entire area is fenced, so its difficult for the kids to run too far. Its the best place, and my kids LOVE it.

Monday night, for our "family night", we took the girls to the splash pad. It was pretty cold and windy, but they still had a blast. And after they got cold, they got to play at the playground. Its the perfect place. We came home nice and tired, and everyone slept like babies (except for mommy, who still had to run before she could sleep).

Anyway - here's some pictures of our fun time. If anyone thinks they'd like to visit the splash pad with us, I'm home every Friday and I'd love to have a play date! I should probably also mention, that the girls thought it would be fun to wear each other's swimming suit. So if it looks like Bryn is a bit "saggy/baggy" and G's been squeezed like sausage into hers, it was all their doing.

And here is a little bonus: a video of my monkey children on the playground at the splash pad. Aren't they so cute.

I guess I'm out of it because I had no idea these were all the rage. I don't even know where one is. I've been annoyed that they might ban under 5s from the pools this summer again so this may be a good option for us. You guys are brave to go out in the cold.

How fun! We'll have to do that with you when we're all recovered in a few weeks.

Your girls are so cute. I love that place in Herriman. (Isn't that where you went??) It's so much fun. We used to live up by there when I was married to Shane. Matthew used to play baseball up there every summer until last year, so we'd go there. It's SO much fun there. Maybe we can all plan a playdate!! I'm in.... I can't this week, but next week I could. My kids would LOVE it. Let me know. :o)

That looks so fun! We would be all over a playdate. Is it going to be warm enough tomorrow?

I have never heard of that. H.ow Fun! Are they only in Herriman? I would love a play date this summer and that sounds so much safer than swimming

So dang cute! They have tons of these in Central Park, but they are a lot smaller. They also have a great one at Battery Park, which Kaitlyn loves! We are planning on taking the train in just as soon as we move to our new apartment. The best thing is that they are free! Seriously they charge an arm and a leg just to let you on to the crappiest excuse for a beach out here!

How fun! I think it's so cute that they switched bathing suits, they're already doing the sister thing! Just wait until they start stealing each other's clothes. :D

That sounds super fun! And way less anxiety producing than a pool. Daphne hasn't figured out that when she goes deeper than she can stand in the pool, she'll drown, so I'm always having to fish her out of the water, gasping for air. It isn't vey fun for Mommy. So the spalsh pad sounds perfect!
